On the slopes of Mezzo Mountain are the ruins of the Princess’ Estate and ancient factory-mill designed to produce oil. On the southern slope of Mount Scala is an ancient rupestrian settlement called Grotte Formose. At the foot of Mount Boscorotondo, is the Vallone dell’Inferno. A particularly striking ecosystem consisting of a deep gorge through which flows the River Crysa, name of the river god, worshipped in the classical era by the local populations.
