The itinerary begins with a walking tour in the historic center of Piazza Armerina, preferably, with the a qualified guide who will speak about the history and traditions of the ancient medieval village. After the visit to the city, you head to the “Officina Agroculturale Cafeci”, not far from the center, to live “Beekeeper for a day” learning all the secrets of beekeeping and admiring the hard work of bees. The participants, wearing protective suits and masks, will accompany the beekeeper during the inspection of some beehives. You will thus have the opportunity to actively participate in this millenary activity and above all to fully understand the bee colonies and their vital and productive cycle.
At the end of the lesson, you can appreciate the work of the small and industrious bees and taste their honey. On request, you can be served a rich tasting dish including honey and local products from the farm.
