The forest is attached to the state property of the city of Nicosia was inhabited by several hermits who decided to bring a monastery to life around the church of Santa Maria or San Girolamo of Lartisina. Today the convent, called Cummintazzu, is only the ruins of a farmhouse used as a shelter by the monks and only part of the ruins of the church. The community of monks survived on what little the forest gave them and alms from the nearby farms and villages.
