Ruins of Tavi Castle

Castello di Tavi 2 - Fine Art Produzioni

Not far from the village you can see the ruins of the Tavi Castle, known to locals as “u Castiddazzu”. It likely was a stronghold of Byzantine origin, which was then reused by the Arabs, later by the Normans and became the seat of the “Tavi Barony.” There are only a few remaining traces of this castle: a visible boundary wall that merges with the rocks on which the castle is located, two large cisterns dug into the stone and a medium sized room with a barrel vault.
